Capturing and editing the digital images I found to be achieved well due to having a basic background knowledge of photoshop so was able to finish my work well and effectively, what I had aimed for as a theme for my photographs was to involve myself into them with different aspects, such as using my glasses and experimenting with the focus of my images. A photographer who influenced this was Markus Reugel, whom uses water and mirrors to refract images in his photography.
As for the manipulation I had chosen my favourite made image, and my favourite taken, and then printed one on inkjet paper and the other on a high quality paper. This helped present the image to a professional and gives a gloss to the image making it more aesthetically pleasing.
After printing another digital image onto fabric I then used different mediums to experiment with my images, such as dripping bleach down the cloth which gave a rusted looking colour to my work, and also using a sanding disc to scratch away colour and give a rugged and scarred appeal. I found that this worked extremely well due to the symmetry of the image and the overall appearance of the piece which gives a worn out and dreary atmosphere.
My digital animation video was incredibly challenging for me as I had never before attempted anything similar, and it had consumed a lot of time for just a few seconds of clip. Through the handwork and time I believe that my first attempt was a success and may apply this to further studies.
My digital video represented Hartlepool through climbing of the church building located next to uni and the high view of the town from different angles. The video is mainly composed of the climbing of the stairs which gives a sense of travelling to find something towards the video rather than just the destination being the important part.
In conclusion, I believe that my digital unit was very successful due to achieving the criteria and giving a representation of hartlepool in different ways and by putting different aspects of my self into my work, gave a very personal element and my own touch on things which would make it differ from others work.
I gained influences from artists for my artist book through out this course, one of which in particular is Charles Cohen, whom takes photographs of pornstars and cuts the outline of the model out of the image, allowing the absence in the images to be the main center of attention. For the background of the images I made abstract black and white patterns which was influenced by Jamie Derringer. With parts of digital image having been cut out it allows the work to look more appealing and stands out with the background black and white patterns bursting through.
